Calculators for spreading resistance are located on the University of Waterloo Microelectronics Heat Transfer Lab (MHTL) web site. This series is for isoflux rectangular or strip sources on either a simple or compound base. The "isoflux" designation means uniform heat flux, an assumption that seems reasonable for chips -- although the power dissipation within the chip isn't really distributed uniformly.
